water filled gearbox
« on: April 19, 2007, 06:44:22 AM »
The gearbox on my bonnie has always filled up with water down the clutch cable this has not been too much of a problom in the past but I only have a short ride to work now and the gearbox no longer gets hot.
How do others get round this as self amalgamating tape/grease do not seem to make much difference and the clutch operating 'balls' have self destructed again.

lack of use is a waste of a bike
you are not a biker if you don't use it

Try a bit of silicone sealer around the cable as you bring down the rubber clutch cable sealer if it is loose, should sort your problems.

what my (rapidly) ageing brain cell forgot was that most water is going down the inner cable.
