Norton gas tank & ethanol
« on: June 30, 2007, 02:56:49 PM »
My bike is a Commando w/ fibreglass tank.

I have found that the mogas / ethanol blend being used in the US is causing problems in my carbs - a fouling on the needles which I believe is some sort of resin being leached out of the tank.

After draining the tank and using 100 LL avgas - no problem.

Two questions:
1) Is there any problem using 100% avgas?
2) what is the best tank coating system to combat the ethanol?

thx

Caswell tank sealer has been recommended elsewhere by other Norton owners, although I've not used it myself and it is apparently suitable for F/glass and plastic tanks as well as steel ones: http://www.caswellplating.com/aids/epoxygas.htm
