morning lads i need a bit of guidance new conrod fitted engine is free fit piston and barrel and the engine tightens up about 1" from the top turn the crankshaft and it goes past ok but it tightens again at the same spot whats wrong

I would suggest a light barrel hone?

Big end. You say a new Conrod has been fitted. That means the big end has been dismantled and reassembled. I suspect something is not quite right there.

Fair point. When he said the engine was "free" I assumed he meant the big end was all OK after the rebuild.

the crankshaft has new conrod big end shims and new pin looked ok was free  rolling so what can it be that is tightening up has to be the piston in the bore some how i could just bin it if i hadn't put so much money in it i need a break from it a couple of nights

Good idea! When things get on top or don't go right I give it a while and do other stuff as growing frustration never makes for a good job. It's supposed to be an enjoyable interest after all..

Have you checked that the conrod is straight and that the small end was reamed in line? or was the small end not touched? It might be a good idea to remove the piston from the conrod and to try pushing the piston up the barrel to see if there is still resistance when you try that. Were the crankcase bearings line reamed correctly? Or have you not touched the bearing housings? Are the piston rings orientated correctly and not spreading when you reach the ports and catching? Lots of things could cause your problems.

new conrod kit fitted by motorcycle garage all seems ok  will have a play and get back

had a night off and a few beers i've cracked it it was me i'd done a bit porting work and not radiused the edges of the ports enough all ok now thanks for the support lads
