Hi all, I am Dave, from Lancashire, scouser in exile! I have a 1979 CB750 four in a 1981 frame and a 1981 GL 500 Silverwing with a CX500 engine. Both bikes I have bought as separate frames and engines and are building them up myself. I have a question about getting a V5 for my GL/CX as I don't have a reg number just the frame number, is it doable?

Had an answer to my question, does anyone know if I can get a V5 with just a vin number? Or can I get a ref number from a vin number? Thanks

Your situation probably entails applying for a new reg number/V5C. I don't doubt (given the age of the bike) that the VIN is listed with the DVLA but in the past I've had no joy when I've asked as they've said "they can't search by VIN numbers alone".
I expect they could, but don't want to, but so what, the rereg process isn't hard, but you'll need an accredited organisation (Honda Owners Club) to issue a dating certificate.
