BSA A65 gear hange stop plates

Hi 
Restoring a 1965 A65 and missing the gear change stop plate (part nr 68-3083) - cant find one in stock anywhere.  Does anyone know if the later stop plate (57-4028) will work or can be modified to work?  The adjacent gear change return spring seems to be the same for both models.
