« on: April 29, 2008, 06:49:50 PM »
I was recently asked what makes a motorcyle Classic. A perplexing question I thought. Any ideas out there??

If you ask ten different people you will get ten different answers. I am sure someone will say that a Honda Fireblade is a classic bike

Funnily enough, they do. And MZs, CZs, late model Jappas of all sorts, and other assorted gray porridge... ;D

I always thought a 'classic' bike is one that has a value (not nesccesarily in money terms) beyond its basic nuts, bolts and castings. That's why some say every Ducati is a classic as soon as it leaves the factory whilst some Jap bikes need a few years before they get past the new, second hand, bargain & hack stages. It takes a certain type of person to think of an old CZ as a 'classic' - maybe a similar type to owners of Austin Allegros and Morris Marinas - but if they're coveted for whatever reason, they must be.

I think the word Klassic must be redefined.
Certainly a motorcycle before the war a Non + Ultra.
But a Bimota also has its attractions. And in our time is also a classic Motobike. Ole
