Not helped by no greaseable "sealed for life" suspension components which weren't and an odd pneumatic actuator on the carburettor (can't remember whether choke or throttle) which also rapidly gave up the ghost.

Sadly just another vehicle rushed on to the road without sufficient development and with the cost accountants having more say than the engineers who designed the stuff.

I don't think the poor old Imp can be dismissed as lightly as that. Even the mighty Honda forgot all it knew about cam hardening techniques for the VF series, then there was the self-igniting Vauxhall people carriers, the Lancia Betas where the engine dropped out through rust in 10000 miles and Hinckley Triumphs breaking spokes by the end of the road away from the dealers.
The designers and accountants don't always get it right first go.

What I remember about the Imp was its mile long throttle cable,such a joy on  a rainy cold day by the roadside.
