Identify these bikes! / Re: 1920s Bike Needs Identifying....
« on: December 29, 2007, 07:07:40 PM »
Seasons Greetings,
What you have here is a 350 New Imperial of circa 1924. They were usually fitted with JAP engines, but I am sure i've come accross a Blackburne one in my travels. When a manufacturer used bought in engines he would often give the customer a choice, or for an extra fee would fit the engine specified by the customer. Hope that this of help. Best regards Vee twin 14

Hi,
I would put your bike at about 1911 or12. I once owned CY 491 which was a 1910 AC Sociable. The Swansea records are still in existance and you can contact the record office at West Glamorgan Archive Service, County Hall, Oystermouth Road, Swansea SA1 3SN Phone 01972 636589 or Fax 01972 637130. Another Swansea bike I had wes CY 4917 which was 1922. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes Tim R-R

Yes it is certainly a Triumph, canot quite make out the reg. If it is WE, which is Sheffield then it could be registered in 1928 as I used to own WE 1946 which certainly was. If it is VE then it could be from a Scottish series., possibly Lanark. Best of luck anyway. V.twin.14

Identify these bikes! / Re: Help with Royal Enfield ID

Hi Nigel,
For assistance with reg. nos. can I reccomend my old mate Mike Worthington Williams, you can contact him at worthycomments@btconect.com If the reg. records still exist then he will know where to look. As regards restoration, your photo looks good and I'd leave well alone, apart from mechanical fettling. My every day bike is a totally original 1927 Model 186 Royal Enfield and sidecar on which I do about 8,000 miles a year. I polish what paint there is and where it is lacking I give it a spray of WD.40. Every time I go out you can guarantee someone will come up and talk to you and I have discovered a wealth of bikes and spares from these encounters. Best wishes Tim R-R( V.twin 14)

Many thanks for getting in touch, I would be most interested in any engine spares you may have especially since they are K series. My gearbox is complete apart from the clutch, which is missing, though I am pretty sure I can source one locally. What parts are you short of? I would be happy to help if I can, all my tinware is original and I would be happy to get any parts copied should you need. My e.mail address is trhysroberts@tiscali.co.uk and I look forward to hearing from you. Happy New Year from Tim R-R

Hi Dommie restorer,
Its a bit modern for me, but I have a friend who has quite afew spares ; let me know what you are after and I will see what I can do. Cannot promise anything as I,ve not seen him for a while but a couple of years ago he was racing a dommie and he had a spare bike which he was breaking for bits; dont know the year though. Let me have details and it will give me a good excuse to pop over and see him. Best regards Tim R-R

British Bikes / Pre-war Goldies, ie M24's

Hi, I am new to this site and would like to chat to anyone out there who has a BSA M24 500 Gold Star, mine is 1938, frame no. KM24 204. It is on the work bench as I write and is the winter project. Luckily I have all my tin ware, but my motor is short of a barrel, head, rocker cover, pushrods and cover, cams, oil pump and primary chaincase inner and outer. Can anyone out there help?
My everyday bike is a 1927 vee twin Enfield and sidecar in totally original condition, a bit scruffy, but then I do about 8,000 miles a year. For distance work I use a 1936 Q8 Empire Star, frame No.101.
This is currently running in after rebuild as a barn find and is proving to be a pleasant machine. For weekend use I ride a 1914 vee twin Enfield Model 140 of 425cc.
