Pre-war Goldies, ie M24's
« on: November 07, 2007, 02:41:24 AM »
Hi, I am new to this site and would like to chat to anyone out there who has a BSA M24 500 Gold Star, mine is 1938, frame no. KM24 204. It is on the work bench as I write and is the winter project. Luckily I have all my tin ware, but my motor is short of a barrel, head, rocker cover, pushrods and cover, cams, oil pump and primary chaincase inner and outer. Can anyone out there help?
My everyday bike is a 1927 vee twin Enfield and sidecar in totally original condition, a bit scruffy, but then I do about 8,000 miles a year. For distance work I use a 1936 Q8 Empire Star, frame No.101.
This is currently running in after rebuild as a barn find and is proving to be a pleasant machine. For weekend use I ride a 1914 vee twin Enfield Model 140 of 425cc.

Hi V.Twin,

I can't help you with any parts but welcome to the site. I'm pretty fresh here too, hoping to glean all the info I can on restoring a Norton Dommie. Good luck with your parts search.

Cheers

Hi Dommie restorer,
Its a bit modern for me, but I have a friend who has quite afew spares ; let me know what you are after and I will see what I can do. Cannot promise anything as I,ve not seen him for a while but a couple of years ago he was racing a dommie and he had a spare bike which he was breaking for bits; dont know the year though. Let me have details and it will give me a good excuse to pop over and see him. Best regards Tim R-R

Hi I have a M24 which is 3/4 built. I am pretty sure it's a 1938 model as the engine no. is JM24 116. I also have a spare engine which I think is a 1939 model engine no.KM24 193 its almost complete (no rocker box cover).I also have spare gearbox parts if you're interested.

Many thanks for getting in touch, I would be most interested in any engine spares you may have especially since they are K series. My gearbox is complete apart from the clutch, which is missing, though I am pretty sure I can source one locally. What parts are you short of? I would be happy to help if I can, all my tinware is original and I would be happy to get any parts copied should you need. My e.mail address is trhysroberts@tiscali.co.uk and I look forward to hearing from you. Happy New Year from Tim R-R
