You've sort of answered your own question really. It's a bitsa that has evolved over 56 years. Maybe Triumph didn't do this but someone else did. Maybe the tank was from a twin carbed bike or the bike it was created for ran better with this set-up. I had a bike which only ran at its very best when the tank was over half full.

Both of those two posties are Pashley RM92s (Royal Mail 1992). I don't know when it happened but they were superceded by the step-through model.

No, not me. Sunny Royal Berkshire. Those are the Queen's stags behind the black postie bike. I sell stuff on ebay, you end up paying high fees but it's worth it for the coverage.

Nope but they're only made of old gaspipe steel tubing so any fabricator could knock one up for you, I would have thought. Pashley are very pro and helpful if you email them.

My main hobby is bicycles. So easy to work on. I keep collecting them and sell a few from time to time (40+ in the last 12 months).

what did you pass your test on ?
My mother's Honda CD175 with Bes Decibel megaphone exhausts. Really quite loud and the examiner knew exactly which part of the test circuit I was on. I used to borrow it from time to time and ended up in a bit of a coma for a week after T-boning a Ford Anglia with my mate on pillion. We were going to see the Zal Cleminson Band at the local college. I have no memory of that day from about 20 minutes before the accident or anything for a week and a half after. The Honda was cheap to fix and I wasn't convicted as the Anglia shouldn't have been on the road, apparently. I was a really nice bloke before that accident , by all accounts, but I've turned into a right **** now. It's funny what a head injury and 35 years can do!

A little harsh. As I can't see your face or hear the intonation of your voice I can't tell if you're joking, serious or confrontational. There are many ways to communicate so I imagine that's what the documentary is looking at.

Yep, 49cc of awsomeness in the morning and 862cc in the afternoon. The first opportunity I got to open it up from a standstill (Cemetery Junction, Reading) I started to fall off the back with the acceleration which rolled the throttle on even more until my hand came off the grip. The return springs on the carbs were very good and my nuts then hit the back of the tank. Lesson one learnt. Lesson two was about five minutes later on the motorway where I opened it up to an indicated 130 mph in the outside lane of three. All was good even though it was really quite foggy until a bid white coach moved out into the outside lane. It had no lights on in what was now thick fog and chose to pull into my lane when I was doing nearly twice its speed. I slowed myself down then and decided that I was trying to run before I could walk. Lesson three was five years later when my soon to be (first) wife thought we ought to sell the bike to realise some money. I should have known better than to listen to her.

1973 Puch MS50D - Dreadfully brilliant first bike/moped between 1976 and 1980.
1979 Ducati 900SS - Brilliant second bike from 1980 to 85. None of the other bikes I have owned since are as good as these two.

My boy has managed to reach 16 years of age and from never showing any interest in motor cycles he suddenly wants a moped. I've explained that pre 1977 mopeds need to have pedals to propel them by to be classed as mopeds. Post 77 they can have footpegs but are restricted to no more than 35 mph (if I remember correctly). There have been further restrictions and some newer ones for moped after January 2013. Has anyone had a similar dilema? He will pay for his bike and I'll pay his insurance but though he and I would prefer him to have an AP50, a Fizzie, Tiger, Caballero, MB5, AR5 etc. I think he'd be better off with a cheap twist and go so that he can do all his falling off on something cheap and chearful. Thoughts?

I'm sure through their Indian arm of the company and with their unquestionable knowledge they may have some little backstreet Chennai chappy that can knock one of these out. Who knows you might be lucky.

Funnily enough when I did my Police Advanced course for both motorcycle and car they expressly forbade us from ever using indicators or rear view mirrors so as to develop that sixth sense.
Oh no they didn't, what was I thinking?

I don't think they look too bad at all on that Dominator.

I take that last sentence by Rex was some sort of veiled threat. Is there some history? What have you done to him?

In my opinion the appearance of broken legs and arms or slack-jawed dribbling in a hospital bed looks a lot worse than a set of indicators on an old bike. The standard of driving in this country has deteriorated dramatically over the last 30 years. Your old bike fitted with indicators will not look right to purists but would you consider riding without a helmet in this day and age, regardless of the legality. There are far too many idiots out there that are intent on reading or sending texts or talking on their phones. Don't give them a get out clause that they didn't see you indicating before they wiped you out.
