The license it self is still valid. Just that DVLA has revoked it. On the balance of things with a 168mile round trip to thetford the best way is just to sell the car.

What ever you think about the French they had the brains to a least got rid of the shit at the top.

The lady is 83 widowed and with no family. So I think she will have to sell the car. If she wants her license back she will have to go to Thetford for what DVLA will not say.

Hello Try and make sense of this. A pensioner friend of mine  as been contacted by dvla that her license has been revoke for a memory problem??.

Now for the mystery. The old Bill turned up in a Patrol car and demanded she hand over the car keys. They took the car away and returned it 2 hours later. It is Taxed, Tested and Insured. I have been to the police station with her and cannot find out why they are keeping  the Keys.

They parked the car in the middle of the narrow drive and the dustbins could not be wheeled past the car to be emptied. So i had to make another trip to the cop shop to try and get the keys, which they would not part with. They came at 8pm at night and I went across to ask about the keys and they where very officious. They then tried to move the car and it had a flat battery and decided  not to push to one side. The bin was full of plastic bags and heavy, instead of emptying some of the bags they struggled with the bin over the car bonnet.  I asked them if they where coming next week to carry the other bin over the car, which did not go down well We have now reached Orwells 1984.

Hi  I do know about Nortons. But Triumph had the quick release on the 1964 Bonnevilles. The Brake drum was left on the frame and the wheel came out. The Wheel hub had a spline which mated to the drum and it had a spacer which fitted between the wheel and the frame, this gave the clearence for the splines to disengage. You could try a washer between the wheel and the frame. Are you sure the play is not in the wheel bearings.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Checked the wires to the boyer and they are ok. I had marked the stator before and  it was set for the r/hand cylinder timing mark. Will have to sort out later as i have decided to have the head converted for unleaded. Will let you know  later what was the problem . If it ever gets sorted  :'( :'(

1973 Triumph T120r Boyer ignition

Is the engine rotation clockwise or anticlockwise. I have just changed the points oil seal and the bike shows no sign of firing up. There is a good spark to both plugs and it ran before ok. Anyone any ideas to  what is wrong. Boyer set to clockwise rotation.

Did you rebuild the engine yourself??. If so did you try the gap between the cylinder wall and piston, as this should be between 4 and 5 thou clearance. Some rebore firms can make the gap to small and result is seized pistons. This happened to me and I had to take it back again for correct clearance. Like you all the problems seem to be with the L/hand cylinder.  I would recommend at least 1100 miles before taking the speed above 50MPH. Most of my problems sorted them selves out after plenty of use.

check piston in each bore and you should have a 4-5 thou gap from front to back. If it is more then piston slap is possible Try each ring in correct bore and you should have between 10-14 thou gap. Remember that the pistons are slightly oval. When putting the rings in the bore use the piston to make the rings level.

I have just done a rebore on my t120

If you have not started stripping it yet you could try using a hearth poker or large screwdriver like a stethoscope to try and determine were the noise is coming from. :o

contacted Supreme Motorcycles who did the rebore and they say possible wrong clearance between bore and piston which has slightly caused piston to lightly seize causing scoring on pistons. :'( :'(

Update I had a word with Len Craig and he said it should be 2-3 thou clearance back and front between piston and barrel. On checking I found it was only 2 thou in total between clean part of skirt and barrel  ( 1 thou back and 1 thou front)

Hello Twolitre

The rubbing looks a bit groovy than a polish look, you can feel it with your finger nail. It has had new valves and guides fitted and only done about 20miles. As I said there seems no play in either big end or little end. The pistons fitted were EMGO and the rings were not marked top nor where they tapered. Will try and upload photos later as camera batteries are flat.

I have purchased a set of Hepolite rings and will use these when I sort out the rubbing on pistons.
