Many years ago under the postwar Labour government a council official came to our house with a complaint about my father repairing vehicles from a residential property. Father told him that both motorcycles were his own and the councilperson expressed his opinion that as a working class person father should not have two motorcycles. Luckily he did not look in the shed where the rest of fathers bikes were.
Nothing changes, it just gets dearer to enjoy yourself.

Nanny state , and if your english and law abidding your an easy target , i have come to this conclusion after many years dealing with building control (who have now been seperated from the council and all the old hitlers made redundant ) They lost control years ago in birmingham when the first beds in sheds started to appear and they realised the people they where trying to tell to take them down did not speak english (except when it suited them) which ment they could only focus on english .And all to offten i find english are to quike to do as we are told or "take it lyeing down" this must change for all our good . so if you feel some thing is not right or fair dont be affraid to say so ,  if these things are not challenged there will be more to come . coming to all areas very soon and its not a send up

Look be realistic much as I agree with you, you cannot buck the system without taking a risk if as you say you are prepared to let it run. If they fine you the statutary £100 fine and you let them take you to court you could end up paying not only your legal costs but also theirs. My advice would be do as they say then go along to see your local MP  put your case to him he can then raise the matter with the relevant minister who will have to give him a written reply which he will forward on to you. At least you will have the satisfaction of giving  the relvant minister something useful to do for a change having to explain what you see as a totally nonsensical situation. I have done this myself over the introduction of Ethanol into petrol  I was surprised at level of response that I got from my local MP and the minster in charge.

Hello Try and make sense of this. A pensioner friend of mine  as been contacted by dvla that her license has been revoke for a memory problem??.

Now for the mystery. The old Bill turned up in a Patrol car and demanded she hand over the car keys. They took the car away and returned it 2 hours later. It is Taxed, Tested and Insured. I have been to the police station with her and cannot find out why they are keeping  the Keys.

They parked the car in the middle of the narrow drive and the dustbins could not be wheeled past the car to be emptied. So i had to make another trip to the cop shop to try and get the keys, which they would not part with. They came at 8pm at night and I went across to ask about the keys and they where very officious. They then tried to move the car and it had a flat battery and decided  not to push to one side. The bin was full of plastic bags and heavy, instead of emptying some of the bags they struggled with the bin over the car bonnet.  I asked them if they where coming next week to carry the other bin over the car, which did not go down well We have now reached Orwells 1984.

Yep, I thought that must be the case, but taking the keys is that legal?

The car needs to be transferred to someone else who can drive her round & do her shopping, it may be possible to do a deal with the insurance company, additional driver?

Why did they take the car though? Get the keys back as soon as possible, seek Legal advice too!

Cheers

The lady is 83 widowed and with no family. So I think she will have to sell the car. If she wants her license back she will have to go to Thetford for what DVLA will not say.

The license it self is still valid. Just that DVLA has revoked it. On the balance of things with a 168mile round trip to thetford the best way is just to sell the car.

What ever you think about the French they had the brains to a least got rid of the shit at the top.

Long live the revolution.

You mean, it was the Queen herself who revoked the old girl's licence? Blimey, that's what I like, a hands-on monarch.

Ha Ha very funny Rex. If you get your self a history book you will find that more than the Queen ended up walking round with their heads under their arms.

Long live the Revolution brother  ;) ;)

To go back to Wetdogs post on Dec 8th, Can you not have all your legal, usable bikes on one policy? ,this is Vintage Bike Forum so your bikes will not need MOT tests and they“ll all be on a free tax disc. Were there any British bikes after 1973 worth having?
I“ve never seen owt on here about Woolers or Heskeths and not many Silks either.
