British Bikes / Re: 1972 t120rv starting problems

Hello,
The 3rd step I know of is a grease fitting made to fit the brake line on the caliper coming from your hand pump on your handlebars.
If you do this with air pressure please put a piece of wood so between the brake pads so the parts and the fluid dont fly around.
If you have tried already with your own front brake pump cylinder that might blow its seal out?At any rate be careful that the pistons
and the fluid dont fly around far.
If you have the wheel out, did you try to push the piston back a bit with a C clamp?
Hope you get them out

Hello,
That is a good point from rogerwilco.I take it your cam is OK and opens and closes like the lobe should?Does the valve guide have too much play, valve sticking in guide? Are the valves really closed at firing?Pushrod bent?Maybe your shop could do a pressure loss test in the faulty cylinder thru the sparkplug hole?Is a ring broke?
Are all the rings put on right in the bad cylinder?Tell us how you come along please.
Good Luck

Hello non starter,
At any rate there is voltage on your wire when you turn the ignition key on.You said you felt something. You are trying to kick start a BSA with no E-starter.Right.You didnt say who made your electronic ignition.Maybe it has a timer in it that shuts off the thing after awhile?Did you try a direct wire around all from Battery to ignition ?Is your Battery OK?
Will it start if you push it?

Japanese Bikes / Honda cb350k,1973,oil drain plug
« on: March 03, 2010, 02:58:07 PM »
Hello,
I have a little problem with my oil drain plug.It does not want to go back in right.I would like to chase the thread in the case but I cant
figure out the thread? It does not fit to the metric that I have .Does someone know what it is?I have checked metric and Whitworth but they dont match right. The thread is outside diameter 33,5mm or 1 5/16.Does that say something to somebody?
Thanks for the help in advance,

Hello,
As LAB said the spark occurs when the points open.If you put a piece of thin paper in the closed points, when can you pull it carefully out in relation to the timing marks on the Nr1,left cyl,is this point around the mark?If all otherwise is ok?Could the timing plate be not on right and turned 180 degrees
wrong?I had this wrong on my cb250k mot and it would not time right!
I can well understand what you mean!

Hello,up in PA,
I think I had a similar Prob like yours once before.A friend tried to pull the clutch and because the clutch plates stuck together so well
he screwed up his clutch adjuster stuff on the clutch side. The ball and the rod and the little excenter plate were not all in the right place anymore. This was on a old Honda years ago.Your Triumph clutch adjustment might be similar? Is the clutch wire still in the right place in adjuster?
Hope it helps,
