It seems to be a regular thing, people saying that the front brake on their British bike is not good enough. The fact is its as good as it needs to be if correctly set up and adjusted, it's not necessary to start modifying them.

If I where you I would go for the bigger A7 or A10 which would certainly be good for two up and can plod around country lanes but give a little bit more power for the main roads.

If you look on the BSA owners club website       http://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/Engine_Frame_Listing.html
You will see the engine and frame number listing starting with 1927 sloper frame number P2500 this will give you some idea of the sort of numbers to be looking for
All the best with it Goldy

As wet dog says check that you have at thick insulation gasket between the carb and the head which prevents heat transfer to the carb body.

I disagree Rex, Jaguar/Landrover where in big trouble at one time, now they have the best productivity and profitability ever. Who owns them? Tata and where are they from? Yes India.

The problem is that countries such as India obviously have some good Engineers who are very capable of making these parts. The trouble is that they do not seem to have and understanding of quality control, I don't know why this is that they can make a part very accuratly but if its made of inferior quality steel or its a couple of millimetres too wide they don't seem to care. if they could correct this, I think they would be quite good.

British is no better, I bought exhaust pipes from Wassell in Cannock and they did not fit.

A lot of old bikes will not start unless you "tickle" the carb. As previously stated you have to depress the plunger on top of the float chamber until fuel comes out.

If an MOT is no longer required by law, then the Insurance Companies will have to except that, they cannot go making their own law.
