For information, when I took the frame the royal enfiled g/box (look like for model g or c or J) is attached at this frame nicely..that is the reason why I made assumption this is enfild frame at the first place..but look at the chasis no it shown P prefix..very confusing...

So does any one could help me to identify the actual frame?

thanks

British Bikes / Re: problem with the rythem running of t21
« on: December 11, 2007, 02:48:23 PM »
Hi All..

I think i got the root cause..misalingn of the contact points caused to the failing of ignition of the right hand cylindr..
Anyhow, after in-out of the 18d2 distbtr,i find difficult to get best tuning, always the tuning became advanced even after 3 or 4 times tried.i just follow my usual step:
a.set the right hand positionn at TDC
b.set the distrbtr clamp plate anchor bolt hole at 9'oclock,LV terminal at ~1/2 past seven and contct point at max opening with the right position of rotor arm
c.rotate the shaft to positon the rotor arm at 12'oclock.
d.inset the distrbr into gear mesh.
e.turn eng backward to get ~1/32"(0.4mm) b4 TDC
f.rotate distrbt body so that the point just to open
g.fit the cap and plug lead respectively.

that all,but i found the ignition is too advance(kicking during starting the eng)
Does any one could help how to do/improve with this method of ignition setting..
c.check each rotor arm position tally with TDC of each each piston.

thanks for the input..I'll check it out.

so if the step that you mentioned workable, then replacing the distributr( ex. new set) will be a permanent solution rite?

British Bikes / problem with the rythem running of t21
« on: November 28, 2007, 10:52:24 AM »
Hi mate,

Currently my t21 facing a problem where the left cylinder only working accordingly while the right is not.
(so I called is not in rythem). All this while they are ok.

After my preliminary checking: I found:
1.spark plug-both have fire
2.breaker gap-set at .015 both
3.points ok-no burnt sign
4.compression ok both
5.fuel ok both
6i have changed the new advance spring inside 18d2
both coz the old one missing after servicing.

What is in my mind is the root cause could be:

a.no equality between both spring strenght but I measured the length- both are same length & I tested by means of pulling the 18d2 advance plate clock wise, then both retun to its first position.-I assumed it is ok.
b.18d2 dis need to be overhauled-loose grip at the bush that connedted to the engine
c.have a problem with timing
d.etc

So does anyone encountered the same problem before?
I need some input from you guys

cheers.

British Bikes / +VE AND -VE EARTH SYSTEM
« on: December 11, 2007, 04:45:44 PM »
HI guy,

Does anyone can explain what is the different/important between these 2 method of earth system to the rest of electrical equipment specifically..(coil,distributr,alternator,batt,etc)

Recently,I did a wiring on my t21 bike and If I were to change from +ve earth(as in diagram) to -ve earth just because of our norm here is to use -ve earth ,then would there be any harm to others electrical parts?
My idea is either +ve or -ve,it just to provide a complete flowing path of the current..

your input is highly appreciated.
cheers

actually the wires color are same coz the previous owner had did recond, cannot recongnise what color for that 3 wires..however by rev the eng &measure, I found:
a)5~7V ac
b)5~7V
c)almost zero..

I have doubful either the output dc vol is enough to charger the battery or not..

My connection is:both a)&b) are sum together and connected to one of the rectfr terminal(for alternator) and the c) to the other terminal(for alternator)-which I confidence with it.

Or is current triggered by the a) &b) itself is not enough?
normally how many amps required to steadily charge the 12V battery?may be i can measure later..

many thks

Hi all,

Recently I have changed the shoddy wiring on my truimph..I did follow exactly its diagram..existing system is 12V.

The problem arised where the situation is normal while I am in ignition(engine running/bike moving) but when i turned "on" the light switch the engine will off & cannot start until I turned back the light sw "off".

my DC vol at rectifier terminal that connected to battery was measured,it is ~5-7V(throttle in mid-rev)

Does anyone can help me how to solve this probem...
what is the root caused?is it alternator producing under voltage?(i got ~ 7V AC at 2 out of 3 wires on the alt terminal)

British Bikes / Re: Method to check alternator wire polarity
« on: February 13, 2007, 12:26:47 PM »
when i bought the bike,i seen 1xgreen and2xyellow..
i am not sure whether the alternator produce 6v or 12v.
we can check by measuring one one wire each to ground(body) using multimeter while engine is running (and rev to max )right ?this stator encapd in resin..

also 1 side of my head also badly pinted(sphere area)..affected the compression ratio I think..
any idea how to make it to normal condition?
