At $745 the magneto it is much more the more expensive option, depends how deep your pockets are, Boyer, Sparx ignitions about $160, but of course you need a battery etc. Both systems work perfectly. Boyer/Sparx contact fits inside the timing cover and cannot be seen, however the black box has to be mounted somewhere, usually under the top rail, covered by the tank. Also you need to run a pair of coils (supplied with the Sparx kit).The magneto fits in through the outside of the timing cover and can be seen, but needs no coils as it is self contained.
