magneto-V-boyer electronic ?

G-day I am trying to make my mind up whether to go with a boyer electronic ignition or one of the new joe hunt magneto's ??? the bike is a triumph 650 unit construction about 1968, the bike is'nt a daily commuter,just shows and weekend rides, both bike and motor are far from stock .thanks for any help you can give . Daniel.

Personally, I can't see there is any decision to make. You say the bike is only ridden occassionally, shows and weekends. To me that means battery care is an issue plus all that fuss with wiring and terminals and ignition switches, etc, etc.
A magneto is completely self contained and eliminates all that nonsense. A magneto every time for me..

At $745 the magneto it is much more the more expensive option, depends how deep your pockets are, Boyer, Sparx ignitions about $160, but of course you need a battery etc. Both systems work perfectly. Boyer/Sparx contact fits inside the timing cover and cannot be seen, however the black box has to be mounted somewhere, usually under the top rail, covered by the tank. Also you need to run a pair of coils (supplied with the Sparx kit).The magneto fits in through the outside of the timing cover and can be seen, but needs no coils as it is self contained.
