beech racing , came across this , must have been one of the slowest races in history , thats if they didant sink first

On wet sand while you are waiting for the starter the vibration of the engine sinks the bike into the sand, these bikes arenīt even running and the tyres are half submerged possibly causing the chain to break from the suction when you drop the clutch.
On a solo I stood astride the bike without sitting on it and on the sidecar I as passenger stood behind it holding the back wheel off the floor until the flag dropped. Other outfits both driver and passenger sat on the bike sometimes until the frame touched the sand.

Three pretty girls on three pretty motorcycles - Matchless Silver Arrows c1930 - likely a promotional photo for Matchless or a Matchless dealer. Any idea of the location?

The Silver Arrow was a mono-block fore-and-aft 26-degree v-twin of only 400cc; an interesting machine, rare these days, but bogging down was a real possibility!
