T140 VALVE TIMING

I am just about to split the crankcase on my 1976 T140V and have inadvertently disturbed the intermediate timing gear before marking the positions of the four timing gears. I have read that Clymer do a manual that describes how to set up the valve timing. Is that right or does anyone know of a better manual or website?

Every Triumph manual ought to at least give the correct valve timing procedure?
I don't know if the Clymer is any better than any other in that respect? I suggest you compare the Clymer instructions with the factory manual instructions?

Just be aware of which camshaft timing pinion keyway the cam is set to, if you decide to remove the cam pinions from the camshafts, although it isn't actually necessary to remove the pinions from the camshafts in order to split the cases.

The Haynes manual isn't much good for OIF models unfortunately.

JR Technical publications (J R Nelson) produce original factory manuals, parts books & other literature. John Nelson is the man who produced much of the literature for Triumph originally.

Unfortunately all that information is out of date, including the link page , as John Nelson sold J R Techinical to L P Williams some years ago, and L P Williams has sold J R Tech. to Andover Norton International, so the correct link for J R Technical publications is the one I gave to the Andover Norton International website : http://www.andover-norton.co.uk/

I am a bit out of date & didn't see you had mentioned JR Technical Publications until after I had posted.
The link I used still works, but perhaps Williams still retails the manuals. Best to go to Andover Norton though, as they are the current source.

Apologies, apologies. Perhaps I should learn to read properly first. It clearly state that Williams have suspended trading in the JR Technical Publications books as thie business is being transfered to Andover Norton.
I know I should take my head out of my a**e long enough to see what is going on!

Most Triumph manuals are available on the net in PDF format for downloading-& their FREE. It's worth a try
