Sloper engine rebuild
« on: April 13, 2009, 12:09:41 PM »
Hi,

I need some information regarding a rebuild which is in progress on a 1929 350cc ohv sloper engine the parts book shows two felt washers, one on each of the two crank shafts I think on the outer side of each of the cases on the strip down they are found to be missing, any one any ideas as to the importance of these items plus is their any where you can get them or use alternatives?.

What is the best sealant to use on joining the two engine cases together and do I need to make a gasket
Rick

if it never had a gasket then dont make one.my gear box never had a gasket just loads of felt washers that go hard
industrial bearings in telford make parts for old machines they have washers etc
