BSA A50 / A65 rear brake switch

Just got back into my bike after a lay off for family reasons but have a problem with a part I bought to get bike ready for MOT.
I have bought a rear brake switch for a 69 A50 , a copy of the lucas switch which was on the bike from new, but the part on the new switch which opertates the circuit revolves in the wrong direction. On my bike the turning part should turn clockwise, the new switch I have only turns anti-clockwise. Does any one know if these switches come in 2 different directions for different bikes as the seller is trying to tell me I have ordered the wrong switch.
If you have an A50 or 65 with same switch does the switch rotate clockwise?
