AJS 1922
« on: June 22, 2009, 04:59:24 PM »
Hi everybody,
My dad has recently bought the AJS pictured below and I'm trying to help him get some more information regarding the bike. The bike seems to be in very orignal condition apart from the safety rim in the front and new leather bags. We've been told its a 350cc model B 1922. Would this have been the sporting version or touring version as according to an online source 3 variations of the 350cc were made (B,B1 and B2 models) in 1922. And I was also wondering if this is a relatively common model or year? Any other info would also be appreciated.
Also even though the bike is currently in the USA, there are traces of a british number XK 936 in the rear number plate. I believe the original front number plate was sold along with the number before coming to the US. Hopefully this should help in getting some history behind the bike.
Thanks

Registration marks starting with XK were issued in London from January 1922 until May 1922, but I do not know which London borough issued the registration number.
The B was the basic model, the B1 was the standard sporting model & the B2 was the stripped sporting model.
