Hi, recently unfortunatly i have inhereted a 1971 Norton Commando Roadster from my father. As i am only 23 i do not have the time or the interest in the bike. I would much rather it went to someone who can care for it like my father certainly did. It is in great condition i have been assured. It is black with gold piping on the tank, seat and sides. My father fully restored the bike some years ago and has kept it superb ever since. I have been told its probably worth in the region of 2800 to 4000 which is a big gap in price. It has drum brakes front and back and peashooter exhausts other than this i dont really know much. If anyone can help id be so so gratefull. And if anyone is interested also please let me know. I just want the bike as i said to go to a caring home and not to be ripped off either.

It can be difficult to give a more accurate estimate of value as one person's idea of a restoration job isn't always the same as another's.

Also you do not say where you live?

<2800 to 4000> Pounds? Dollars? If UK Pounds then as a broad estimate it doesn't seem too far out.

Sorry that would help. I live in Lincoln England so it would be in £'s. Do you have any advise on good places to advertise or places that would be interested in the bike?

Best places to advertise would be publications such as:

Classic Bike
The Classic Motorcycle    
Classic Bike Guide
Real Classic (or website classified section)
Old Bike Mart

Some of those do not charge for the ad.

And of course the 'Bikes For Sale' section on this website!

Thank you. I have put it up for 4k but really not sure - I only put it up for that as a guy who i know sold an 850 for 3850 and he said mine is a fair amount cleaner than his.
ill keeping checking back on here so if any more ideas will be greatly appreciated.

It certainly does no harm to start at the high end of the price range especially if you are not in a great hurry to sell, although this isn't really the best time of year for selling, bikes seem to sell more quickly and for slightly better money during the warmer weather, but good luck anyway.
