right lads
I've got a CD175 as a runabout and sometime in the dim and distant someone has done a 12v conversion. just to check I stuck a multimeter across the (new) battery and with engine NOT running I get 12.33v, with engine running i get a reading of 11.83v i.e. .5v drop. so question is has the conversion been done correcly, how can I check, and if not how can I sort it? ???
any advice gratefully received

Without knowing exactly how the conversion has been done it is rather difficult to say if it has been done properly or not, or what to check? There should at least be AC oputut from the alternator to a rectifier (or regulator and rectifier in one unit) and DC output from the rectifier to the battery circuit. So could you give an accurate description of the charging circuit (which wires go where?) And which type of rectifier/regulator is fitted?

Thanks for quick reply, weren't expecting one that swift!
I'm no electrical genius and so don't know exactly what conversion has been done - to be honest until I spoke to someone with another the other week I thought they were all 12v so wasn't really looking for oddities. Now I'm wondering if someone has just changed all the 6v stuff for 12v and then added a 12v battery. So I'll wait for the weekend (hissin down at the mo) and take seat/gen cover off, etc and get as much info as poss. Many thanks again
ps is there any thing obvious (to you) Ishould be looking for?
