Hi All
I'm new to this site and am looking for some help please
I inherited a 400/4 ten years ago when my partner's father (the previous owner), died. The bike was mostly in pieces  and I stripped it down some years ago and had the frame shotblasted and powder coated. I've been putting it back together recently but it's a bit of a jigsaw puzzle not having taken it to pieces! I'm in Hatfield Herts  - anyone live near as I'd like to look at another example to get some clues. Failing that, anyone prepared to post some pictures of their bike for bits I'm unsure of. An example is the centre stand spring fixing; another the wiring

Great, thanks for that - I've joined the forum. I sorted out the centre stand yesterday
I need to know where the wiring loom routes itself and in particular the rectifier where it bolts on. Then there's the instrument cluster - how that's mounted. Is there a spacer on the rear lower engine mounting bolt- the one where the bracket attaches to it to support the battery/air cleaner box? There's lots more but that's it for the moment

You might want to think about buying a second complete bike. Aside from using it as a model, if your bike is apart you may need other parts or might want to upgrade parts that you aleady have with parts from the donor bike. When your done you can recap some of your money by selling the leftovers on ebay.

The second bike would be especially helpful with the electrics which can be confusing even with diagrams.

This helped me redo a kawasaki triple a couple years ago.
