No idea what this thing is!! HELP!!

Someone said this could probably be a BSA but he wasn't sure. It has Lucas Electronics on the handlebars, an Amal carburetor, on the rear sprocket it says Smiths Motor Accessories, and it looks like an oil-in-frame chassis. After many hours of looking at pictures, I still am clueless so any ideas would be very much appreciated!

Probably one of the BSA B25 or B50 models? (the photo is rather small) the engine/frame numbers should identify it.
Can you say what they are?

Could the 'R' actually be 'E' ?

As N'E' would be the build date code prefix for 1971 which would be correct for that model.

N = October
E = 1971

As BSA and Triumph actually started building their new year models from around August of the preceeding year that means the bike would actually have been manufactured in October 1970.  
  
So the model is a 1971 250cc B25T Victor Trail.
