To all of you that may be of help.
my friend robin reckons years ago he bought an ariel red hunter which was an ex police bike, about 1947 ish.
he says that this bike would rev to 10,000 rpm I told him if that could happen there would be bits of engine pieces leaving the crankcases at the speed of sound, lol,
my dad owned one and it sure didn't reach anywhere near them revs and I personaly re-built the engine, ballanced it too. the maximum revs I could get out of it was about 4800 then the valves started bouncing!
Has anyone built or owned a racing ariel red hunter? what did you achieve in the rpm range? bearing in mind this is a long stroke, 81.8bore with a stroke of 95mm compression ratio from what I can remember was around 8:1
