<TR6RDE2xxxx>

TR6R = 650cc  'Tiger' model TR6C ='Trophy' model

D.....month of manufacture = April

E...model year = 1971 (from Aug '70 to July '71).

Single 'Amal' carb would normally be correct for Tiger and Trophy models.

The TR6R Tiger model is basically a single carb version of the Bonneville (T120) model, so a lot of info and parts (with some exceptions = cyl head/single carb and inlet manifold etc.) are the same for both models (TR6C also shares many parts). Many riders of the time preferring the simplicity of the single carb setup although there was a slight loss of top speed compared to the twin carb Bonneville.

Hi, just joined the forum and searched for AMAL, and found this topic. I also have a TR6R, 1968, and whilst changing the throttle cable, the needle dropped out, with the securing clip which was separated. The book say's the clip should be fitted postion 1. Is this at the top of the needle?

Yes. Position 1 is normally the top groove, this being the weakest needle position.
