Help ! 1954 Norton

Hi my dad has just purchased a 1954 Norton ES2
in Australia and is doing it up, he is soon to send it off to be painted and found there to be green paint under the black that is on the exterior.
As there is limited information on these bikes in Aus, (and he is not very computer illiterate!)
I was hoping someone could offer some advice on the colour it should be ?

Could the 'green paint' be primer?
