HELP identify bike
« on: November 03, 2010, 07:27:43 PM »
I have recently acquired a vintage motorbike without any history or
paperwork.
The engine that came on the bike is a 9D villiers, with a number (624/30511)
signifying a DOT motorcycle, which according to DOT motorcycle club belongs
to a 3 wheel truck.
The tank is also not original.
The front forks are Webb pressed forks with the following numbers, B&D
(Bentley and draper) Pat No. 190589.
The frame has the number 19693.
The stand has the number EX2964
The rear brake cover has Britishub" Motobrake Birmingham on it.
The wheel rims are Dunlop.
The tool box is not original and not sure about seat position either
Would very much appreciate any help with this.

Hi Alan,
I happen to own an OK B-31 which is the years before's model but reg 1932, its frame number is 162**
The 31 model has Webb girders not the pressed steel ones fitted to your bike
Mine has the 285cc JAP engine and 3 speed Albion box, it goes very well for a small sidevalver,
On mine the saddle sits on a 7/8dia piece extending from the frame lug, not the bicycle type design on yours
You have a major challenge on your hands ;D
I think the petrol tank will be the most difficult thing to find??? But heres hoping
I have been having "bad thoughts" about mine and have sourced a 250ohv JAP engine (which happened to turn out to be from an OK  ;D ) and a 4 speed gearbox, Of course both need rebuilding so its a while away yet!!!

Best Regards

Hi John,

Ya it def a major challenge, ???, good to know someone with a similiar bike, if you can call mine that!!.
The seat on mine is not original like most things, i would imagine the original is the same set up as yours.
Not sure where to start to be honest, looking for guidance, would appreciate any information you could share, especially sources for engine/gearbox.
I'am living in Ireland which makes access to parts even more difficult.
Nice to see a picture of your bike if you have one.
Kind regards

Alan

Hi Alan,
I am also in Ireland ;D
If you send me a pm we can make better contact with each other
It would be worth making some measurement comparisons to check if the bikes are the same model
I may be able to help with some parts or patterns to remake what you will need

Regards
