Hi forum,

I am looking for all kind of pre war 4-stroke Excelsior stuff, also contact for someone who owns several Excelsior bikes. Im especially interested about frame from mid -20s. Also Blackburne OHV engine. Thanks.

Ah!! You have the later type (28 on) engine (UT?)
Whats the bike?
Mine has the outside flywheel and the rocker pillars screw into the head 
like this one (but this is 1924) http://www.bonhams.com/aus/auction/19746/lot/312/#
I have just been repairing the head fins and a new exhaust stub is spigoted and brazed in.
Any of these lying around your shed???
This is a long term restoration, and I mean Loooooooong!!!!!
I have never come across a more worn out bike

is yours a parrallel ( misspelt im sure ) pushrod motor ? mine i think is a MM but im not 100% i do have other parts not for this machine

Hi wetdog,
No The pushrods and tappet rods are inclined, only the very early engines had vertical tappets and inclined pushrods , soon gave trouble!!!
I have a period article which shows how to modify the setup, can also be used to convert sidevalve crankcases
Heres a pic of a converted or modified  engine, It also has late type rocker gear
Which shows that You should not rely on whats on display in museums

Sorry, no to both questions
I'm from Cork Southern Ireland
The Chater Lea is an original Irish bike, the prevoius owner passed away after dismantling it and having some bits and pieces done. His bikes went to Bonhams Auction in Stafford where I bought the CL project and brought it back home, of course minus a few bits which got lost or put with the other stuff auctioned off
