Excelsior Sports Talisman Twin 1954, value

I have a very nice original one, has not been on the road since the mid 60´s. Complete bike with very nice original paint. Did not think about selling it, but now a guy is doing his best to persuade me to sell. You dont see these bikes here in Sweden, so I have no clue about what to ask for it. Would be grateful if someone could give me a hint in what region the price should be.

Talisman Twins are hard to find anywhere. They were neither a popular nor well loved model when they were new and Excelsior  lost its standing as a respectable maker of lightweight machines so very few have survived anywhere. (Their previous 250cc, the OHC Manxman was a very hard act to follow)
Excelsior introduced their swinging arm frame Talisman Twin in 1954 and if I remember rightly they put the 197cc Villiers 8E engine in the same frame as well.
Nowadays a roadgoing Talisman Twin would be seen as an interesting bike because few are around. I think their value would be much the same as any lightweight British bike in similar condition.

Difficult decision !
A different approach may be to suggest a model of bike that you would be willing to swap for it, make the 'purchaser' work for the trade as it were.  Maybe even something modern, not necessarily expensive, which can similarly be kept in original and working condition, to trade like for like ?

When I had my Monet-Goyon I used to search the various European Ebays regularly looking for spares, and I was always struck by how much more expensive anything "classic" is in continental Europe. Even bikes considered "mundane" in the UK seem to fetch much more "over there", and presumably that's why there are dealers (like the Dutch pig farmer ) who would appear to buy UK bikes to sell in his home country.
So whatever the Excelsior might be valued at in the UK add on some more. I'd hazard a guess at £2000 tops here, but it would need to be good, for that price.

Ok, -thanks to you all for the info! I am not really a biker, so I dont know much about bikeprices. But I have a lot of classic cars, and I recognise what Rex writes: Dutch and German dealers draining the market here, and then offering the cars on their homemarkets for many times the dubble price or more.
