Cleaning alloy LM9 LM 24 Camshaft deterioration!
« on: March 30, 2012, 01:33:51 PM »
Hi,
Whats the most cost effective way, (doing it yourself), of cleaning up alloy engine parts I want to clean up the Imp engines over Easter, also I want to clean the bores & then re-grease them.

A camshaft I have,  has somehow fallen to the bottom of a supposedly water-proof bag and got wet I need to clean off the rust and then look @ the damage, it  could have to be built up & re-ground anyone out there had this operation done for them?

If so who & @ what cost?

PS I live in a sea-side coastal town in the UK  & everything rusts....much more quickly than inland... arrgh!

Cheers

Remove the worst of the grease and oil then stick 'em in the dishwasher when the Boss goes out....simple! ;)
