My Grandad's bike

Ok this my grandad on his bike in the mid 50's in Iran(Persia then).  Anyone know what his bike was.  he had a Triumph when back in Glasgow.

The caption on that picture should say 1941, not 1951 ?
Or more likely, 1942 or 1943.

Since no-one has mentioned it, this bike, and the original pic, are both military models.
