« on: February 16, 2007, 06:55:36 AM »
Hi
Can anyone assist with identify the Raleigh in attached picture.
Think its 1920;s some where around 1925 to 1927
Has a 248cc engine

Does anyone have Raleigh parts for this period

Any idea where I can get a list of frame numbers for this period so as to assist with the identification

Motorcycle nut form Australia having his first crack at restoring a Raleigh

Its dead easy Bob, don't ask for a list of Raleigh numbers. Tell us the frame & engine numbers of what you have.
That way it is much easier for all concerned to hunt around what info they have.
Of course the other thing is to tell us what part of Godzone you live in and that could possibly make it even easier.
Cheers, Bob

Bob (33d6)
Thanks for your reply
The one in the picture has frame number 19059
Also have two other frames.
2nd frame which is almost complete ,,,,,frame number 29342
3rd frame which is the front half including forks,,, frame number 31336
The first two frames look very similar and the 3rd is different
At this stage have not found any engine numbers first of all not sure where they are on the engine and have to clean a lot of  crap off before I will be able to see anything, have 2 x 248cc SV and 1 x 248cc OHV engine
Im in Croydon Victoria

Hi Bob,
The obvious thing is that your Raleigh's date around the mid -late 20's.This will drive you nuts but they made a broad variety of 350 models in these years and rang all the changes on 2-speed, 3 speed, belt drive and chain drive so sorting out one from t'other can be a bit involved. Nor does it help when you just have a pile of parts.
There was never a 250 ohv Raleigh but they did make a 350ohv from 1925 and a 500ohv from 1928. I suspect your ohv engine will turn out to be a 350.
Lucky for you I  have a potted history for Raleigh listing all models plus info on frame numbers.  E-mail me on bobmcgrath21@hotmail.com and we'll work something out.
Cheers, Bob
