BSA A65 Bottom End Rebuild Crankshaft Tolerance
« on: February 26, 2007, 11:28:31 PM »
OK I have been reading everything I can find on rebuilding the bottom end of our friend the BSA A65 motor and have a few questions.

1. How do you measure end play of the crank shaft?
2. I have read about eliminating the shim pack, but I can’t find any info on how to actually do it?

Thanks, Rick

USE A D T I ( DIAL TEST INDICATOR ) TO MEASURE END FLOAT( WITH NO SHIMS IN ).  DONT FORGET TO TIGHTEN CASES TOGETHER FIRST !.
SUBTRACT THE MEASUREMENT FROM THE REQUIRED END FLOAT GAP. USE SHIMS TO  MAKE UP THIS SIZE. FIT AND REBUILD.
