New carb for ES2
«
on:

I just ordered a new 276 Amal carb for my 1950 Norton ES2 from Burlen. Does anyone have any experience in dealing with them? They claim to set it up as standard to the model (jets, needles etc), just wondered if it's as good as it sounds. Mind you, it ought to be for £277 all in!

I ordered one for my Norton Big 4 and had to wait nearly 9 months for it......apparently they were waiitng for the components to arrive from their suppliers before they could put it together and despatch it........

Frank, strangeley enough, that's what they told me as well when I placed my order too ! Hope your experience is better than mine, although the carb arrived in the end, good job I wasn't desperate for it to finish the bike. Regards, Martin

I ordered one from them three years ago, after four months I cancelled it and got a refund' it is still showing on my account as on order.
I ordered it fromSurry Cycles and got it two days later.

All the carbs I've had from Burlens have needed stripping and swarf removal, plus fettling to remove casting flash. They work well but the QC must be poor.
I'd rather get an old carb and get it resleeved now.

They called me at last, they have all the components in house and will be supplying me in the next fortnight. Thanks for that Rex, I'll go over it with a fine toothed comb
