Help me Identify-Vintage Cimatti-Merkury Bike
« on: May 28, 2013, 12:38:52 AM »
I just recently acquired this bike, and have no clue about it or its worth.(dont really know anything about old bikes so...)

It does not run:(

EDIT: I just got the TITLE for it and it is a 1967 Cimatt 2WH...thats a little more information on it.

Also do you think I would be able to sell this??

Could you guys please help me identify it and maybe tell me its value???

Heres some better pictures

That 'tank badge' is off an outboard engine for a boat ?!!?

A quick search shows that Marco Cimatti, and then his son Enrico, was an Italian manufacturer postwar, and also made bicycles. Mostly used 50cc (and some 125cc) Minarelli and Morini 2 stroke engines. Won the Italian 50cc Trials Championship in 1966-67-68, and made a variety of mopeds, scooters, minibikes, little trials and enduro models. 50,000 bikes a year in the 1960s and into the 1970s, when they were exported, including to the USA. Info from "On Two Wheels" magazine, Issue 14. Only 2 pages, up to 1977, doesn't show your model, maybe it was after 1977. Although it looks late 60s early 70s. Some other models look not that different, so we are in the right ball park.

Does it go ?
If not, a few hundred bucks would be about it. ?
And not much more if it does. ??

There is a scooter and a few magazine adverts on ebay, and a few (expired) for-sales on Craigslist.

Interesting cycle, never heard of them before.
Hopethishelps, abit.

This seems to be a similar bike - a Cimatti Cross ST160
http://digilander.libero.it/massimo254/MOTO/cimatti_cross_st_160.JPG

This would make it a 160cc
Although obviously the exhaust is different.
May mean yours is a different year, or a different model ?

This seems to be a 1968 model, so with the smaller front hub on yours it would be a year or 2 earlier. (?)
