For a more positive identification you need to give us the frame and engine numbers. The frame number is more important than the engine number. Licencing authorities require it to ascertain the year of manufacture. It doesn't matter what year the engine and gearbox are, its the frame number that says what year your bike is.
Numbers make life sooo much easier.

I've an interest in buying what is supposedly a 1938 Rudge Special with the frame number 63863.  Can anyone tell me anything about this?  Also can anyone give me some information re prices that these fetch.  My interest really started as a result of my Grandfathers stories of one years ago.  I've always promised myself I'd own one, now I've got some money I considering it.  If anyone can shed any light on the prices or indeed if anyone knows of one I'm interested.  Please private mail me if you wish

Hey all, thank you for any help. I've learned that the model is Rudge Whitworth 1928, 500 cc. For the moment I would like to get any help, direction, so I can purchase a front fork, magneto (Lucas???) and a carburator (Amal???). I would really appreciate if anybody could help me with some info, anything regarding a place where I could buy these items.
THX.

There is a very good Rudge website at http://www.globalserve.net/~irm/ that will be of great use to you. I suggest you look them up. A great source of new parts for Rudges.

Sorry this is so late but I've only just joined the forum, the carb you need would be an AMAC 15mdy or 10mdy depending on the exact model i.e. Standard, sports, dirt track or special. (Although this dosn't look like the dirt track model).

The magneto would either be a ML magliter or the ML magneto.

Frame number for a 1928 should be between 24606 and 31500.
