Shock absorber for vintage Motorcycles
« on: January 22, 2015, 05:01:35 PM »
Hi all,
I have this replica of vintage european motorcycles shock absorbing for sale. It was put on a high number of them since that was an optional part (Motosacoche, Moto-Rêve, Terrot, Albatros, Moser, etc.
If somebody is interested on it, please send me a private message.

Regards.

I'm familiar with the Simplex fork attachment designed by Masi and Vigneaux http://earlymotor.com/lewis/motorcycles/html/spring.htm that used a leaf spring, but I know nothing about this fork. Do you know who designed it and what it was called?

Just interested.

Thanks

Leon

Hi Leon,
I know the Simplex shock-absorving which used to be put on Griffon and Alcyon motorcycles.
Concerning the origin of this fork is a little bit confused. I talk about this with one of the most specialist in Vintage motorcycles made in France, M. Bourdache, because there were two marks which patented the same type of shock-absorbing : L'idéale (in France) and Condor Patent Ferdegabel (in Switzerland). As far as I know, nobody has found the answer to the question : Who did it first?
One thing is sure :  It was successful part because a lot of marks of Motorcycles proposed in their catalogues as an option (in attachment You'll find some pictures of Motorcycles of different marks with it : Moto Rêve, Terrot, Motosacoche, Peugeot...).

They are practic. Inside ther are 4 springs: 2 of them works by compression and 2 of them by extension in order to keep the horizontal part always in his original position.
