I have been building an excelsior with a mk14a villiers engine air cooled with villiers carb and villiers flywheel I have checked the coil replaced the condenser,points ht lead and plug ,I am getting spark and compression seems ok ,also had carb serviced set the timing of armiture plate but cannot get it started any idea's starting to pull my hair out and i have not got a lot left HELP!

if you have comp and a spark at the correct time it must be fuel ,

Remove the spark plug,
carefully tip a teaspoon of petroil down there,
replace spark plug and plug lead,
and kick it over and see if you get any pops or bangs.
Or if it even starts.
With and without a bit of throttle.

If this makes a difference, its definitely fuel related...

You haven't really given us enough information. The 14A was made between 1933-40. Villiers supplied it in either petroil or autolube format and with single lever or double lever carburetter. Each has their own little foibles.

Perhaps you could tell us what you have and give a bit of history. How long has it been off the road? When was it last started? Stuff like that. We'd all like to help but the more info you give the easier you make it.
