Hi name is Phil live in Gloucestershire just bought a 1949 b31 started stripping it needs lots of work but will enjoy can anyone help with diagram of valve timing before I take it apart please

You'll need a manual (or collection of relevant service sheets) before going much further and the info you need is in there. The timing marks are self-explanatory as I recall. Three marks to line up.

As Rex says, valve timing is pre set, so why do you anticipate problems?

I hope you are not thin skinned enough to take offence like so many do, when I feel your skill might not be up to par if you have to ask such a question?

As always, read the manual first, plenty of BSA stuff around, and study the parts lists which are very informative. as to what goes where.

nice bike, easy to work on.

Hi Phil,
There are lots of very active old bike riders in Glocestershire, track some down and they will point you in the right direction
I have quite a few friends there who are heavily into old bikes,
As said get the service sheets before you start

well thanks for reply's  service sheets have not landed yet so thought I would ask ,not offended by any answers dad taught me never to old to learn  build lots of bikes  Harley mainly  just decided to do a b31 a blast from the past took me a while to find bike use term bike loosely mainly rust ,but she will be a thing of beauty when I have finished ,I will probably  post a few questions in the coming months ,and will try to help where I can .
