Hello! Pls help with infomation on my bike

Hello, my names lee and have joined as i have a triumph daytona 500. I believe it is a T100D, and is one of either 18 or 25 made. (I do have paper work to prove), But thats it i no nothing more, i.e how many are left? The value? and infomation on it as cant find much. It has the disc brake on front which the other daytonas may not of had but really not sure.
So any help on this would be great.

Yes, only a small number of 500's were built with the disc brake.
And a few of those survive, but I have no idea how many? Occasionally one of those survivors gets featured in the odd classic motorcycle magazine, and Classic Bike ran a feature on one (maybe the last 500cc Meriden ever made?) in the April 2001 issue.  

The last one I saw (maybe the only one I've ever actually seen?) was part of a motorcycle collection put up for auction four years ago.

i Have been looking through the paper work and it says there were a batch of 18 made in the second half of 1974. The major mods were bonnie forks and disc brake and improved oil feed to bottom end. It also say the numbers ran from - to and mine was the last one made.

All the mods are listed in the Classic Bike article I mentioned, and it says "18 pre-production T100D machines manufactured - engine numbers JJ57989 to JJ58006."

Apparently there were also at least another 4 made that "escaped the build records" -according to Classic Bike, and the featured "last" 500cc Meriden bike is engine number JJ58013 (JJ58010 is also known to exist).

And...

The one I saw up for auction was engine/frame number JJ58008, according to the auction catalogue that also states there were 25 made.

Apparently this "D" batch was probably made in August (and into September?) 1973, and a JJ prefix would confirm a build date around the August 1973 period: J* = August, *J = model year 1974,  which was not the same as calendar year 1974. Some, or all of these D models were apparently trapped inside the factory when the Meriden workers took control of it and started their 18-month sit-in, so were not released for sale until early 1975 when the Meriden blockade ended?

Cheers for all the infomation you getting, i glad you found out about the strike part, as mum did tell me but never seem to make sence and i dont think she was that sure herself. I dont like to bring up the value but where could i get this infomation from as the bike needs re-insuring now and they do ask the question. To me its pricless as was past down from mum and dad and they would kill me if i was to sell it.

I'm sure you understand it can be quite difficult estimating the value of a motorcycle given that it's condition is more or less unknown? And even more so for a rather rare version that isn't offered for sale that often, but the (April 2001) Classic Bike article mentioned that a good example could sell for £4000 or more.

Lee _ I purchased JJ57989 this summer. It is in generally pretty good nick and  appears to be all as original spec following Rebuild in 1997. There were articles on T100D's in Classic Bike Guide March 1995(no47) featuring JJ57989 and Classic Bike April 2001 featuring JJ58013. The JR Nelson book on the Daytona quotes "The ill-fated Series 2 variant, the T100D, with alloy front forks, disk front brake and a number of major engine improvements , sadly never saw the light of day apart from a partially completed pre-production pilot batch of 18 machines(JJ57989 to JJ58006)awaiting completion on the day of closure." In terms of value all I can say is you pay what you think it is worth. I paid £4950 for a good example from a dealer and think it is worth every penny for a rare piece of British Motorcycling history! Cheers Matt.
