Fellow enthusiasts!
Some Serious & Sincere Worrying Issues:

Well, since my last post I have pondered on why & how a mates, mate's Norton International Is worth more money than a rural/cottage-house my parents bought in 1976 that was semi-detached and had over three-quarters of an acre of land with it, in Central Lancashire & would I be wise to speculate in the future on such a purchase, given that the transport policies in this Great Nation of ours seem to be getting more & more anti-vehicle every day/week/year & have come to the conclusion that there are only 5 good reasons to do such a thing:
1) Bloody mindedness;  A Kyoto rebel, (read on);
2) As an impartial speculator for cash, having no love in this scenario for great engineering feats of the 20th century, (not true in my case), bit like buying a painting as an investment & having no love of Art;
3) To continue in a self-indulgent way my interests in motorcycles, in a Club or posse of like-minded individuals;
4) To support Home industries & "Ride the Flag", so to speak;
5) Fun!
And against 5 bad ones:
6) Transport policy of our Nation State; Speed Cameras
 Fines, Points on Licence, Traffic Infringements, incidentally Christmas shopping in Chatham & losing my bearings I turned into where the Traffic use to go & ended up in a Bus Lane only route,  unable to escape without going down the one-way trap, I was captured on camera and awarded in  the spirit of Christmas peace & harmony a £60 fine, reduced to £30 if I coughed up within a 14 day period, Merry F****** Christmas to one & all I say, the issued ticket/form left no grounds whatsoever to appeal & I haven't yet found a way to post some scathing comment on their Medway Council website!
7) Fuel costs e.t.c;
8) Theft of said  investment, "precious" motorcycle; Gollumesque behaviour may be experienced on occasion!
9) Chance of the Grim Reaper calling in my departure card on route to having some fun, is it allowed in the UK these days?
10) Through some or all of the above, I end up with negative equity on said purchase as happened to the E-Type Jaguar as an investment some years ago, to many Classic car punters!

Being a man, means the end decision will not be a rational one!

Seeing that I have tried to support Britain & my trusty K-engined Rover 400, blew it cylinder head gasket on Monday & as from Friday I will be £600 worse off, (Happy New Year to you all by the way), my Norton-Imp project & workshop roof re-fabrication is now put further back into the annals of time, with regards to objective successes in 2013, good old Rover, this is the second time its  gone bang, but the garage that did it the last time didn't fit the MLS gasket & another member of my family paid the £800 bill, so hey Ho, bang again, bang on!

However, contained within this tale of misery, I could have found salvation as I was trying to get my head round the price of stuff, the Financial crash & what's going on in this Nation State of ours that doesn't make sense  & that's making me unhappy, as a "Subject".  Yes, you read it right the first time, I rediscovered " You Tube" it was love all over again, because I stumbled back onto something I had forgotten & something Americans are re-discovering too, the UN's AGENDA 21. A Global Solution to controlling mankind at every level to reduce  Greenhouse gases & by meeting targets of reducing carbon emissions to pre-1992 levels by say  2050 or even 20% below where we were then in 1992, remember Kyoto, to SAVE the WORLD, everything crazy that's going on starts to make sense!

CO2 is now classified as a pollutant, so is CH4, to the uninitiated that's the same gas that comes out of your arse in you & me when, like cows we fart!  At the moment World governments haven't found a way of taxing farting but at some point in time they will, probably a hidden bog-roll Green tax!

More seriously CO2 is produced in respiration & unless we are called to Glory or deposited somewhere not quite as pleasant, we all  respire, its a key stage of being alive,  your vehicle is now taxed on how much CO2 it produces, the more CO2 the more you pay,  PERSONAL TRANSPORT is seen as the baddie here,  and if THEY make it a pain in the arse & more & more expensive, 'cos its using Energy initt!  And more & more Legal tosh happens with Infringements & Fines and Points and increased insurance and Toll roads and ridiculously low speed limits what are you going to do, you are going to give it up aren't you, you will walk, cycle or be like what the future generations will experience,  in that future generations are going to be coerced into buy a electric powered bubble car, that's why my friends they are insisting on rating engines in Kilowatts , there will be no other options available to us if we allow them to do this!

Option1)
Give up transport then, They have a better chance of meeting their reduced Greenhouse Gas emission targets.
Option2)
Fight on....

That my friends is why they are going to make Motorcycles of the Future with anti-tampering software, before the  final end of the ICE, brought about by governance & policy change.

Consider, that 20 Councils in Britain have applied to take over from the Police the Administration of 30 motoring infringements levelling fines into their coffers, through camera surveillance and Penalty acquisition, from out on the road to parking, one camera through entrapment of the road lay-out in a London Borough, made 2.7 million last year in fines!

Parking Charges are increasing because some Borough Councils are taking a 40+ %  cut in their funds from
Central Government this year,  they can't raise Council tax so,  motoring offences is the only way to make money as well as agreeing to Land Development schemes with houses popping up everywhere!

The other issue is that a Norton International is worth more than a house forty years ago is because of mainly INFLATION & Currency Devaluation, this indicates that paper money is becoming worthless & valueless at an alarming rate, theWeimar  Republic anyone?  This is not good because it means that most of us will never attain financial independence from our needs, debt is a hard taskmaster.

Lookup the Exchange rate in Dollars to Sterling in 1860 to get my drift, American Civil War time.

America is starting to wake up to the hard facts of social engineering, but we in Blighty, are sleep walking ourselves into losing our FREEDOMS and options  with regards to Lifestyle choices and work activities, why do you think nearly if not all the aluminium smelting has been allowed to leave the UK?  Immigration, Porn, Paedophilia, Gender issues, Terrorism, are all Side-Shows, Agenda 21, massive job losses, falling wages, Social Policies and Planning are real, at work we couldn't talk any more in the Lecturer's Staff Room in case someone reported us for being non PC and hence offensive, so Barry an old time engineer & myself waited till everyone else had gone out....remind you of anywhere a few hundred miles east & famous for sausages 70-80 years ago.

Oh! and by the way when I went to register to get married in two weeks time  and showed my old pink Licence it was not a valid document as it did not have a photo on it, however in 2015, even though it was originally issued till 2027 it will no longer be valid as I will then require a photo licence as apparently so shall we all!

Cop This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEHWsdimVO4 to hear how they are trying to change the USA!

Cheers

This is an excellent animation of the way Global Banks have manipulated America into a situation of Debt, its entertaining too, also it gives you a possible reason for JFK's assassination in 1963!

Presumably you were in the Rover when you got done for not looking where you were going. put it down to bad luck.
The headgasket has gone twice on my diesel Citroen AX in only 250,000 Kms ,Originally due to a pinhole in a heater hose when only 2 years old. I fitted a genuine steel gasket that rotted away in 5 years so its now got a fibreboard pattern gasket which has lasted 14 years. The Rover is British design and too advanced for itself.  Put it down to bad luck.
And remember, bad luck comes in threes. Cheer up, it´s only money. Live each day as if its your last, because one day it will be.

Hmm!
How many towns are not signed well & confusing?  Chatham's main through road out towards the old docks is now a Bus Station feeder lane/s, I turned left to go into a Car park being Christmas it was queued up & instead of doing a U turn I carried on & then turned left as soon as I could, this section of road, used to be the main way out linking to a new dual carriageway connecting up to & passing a newish Docklands retail area.  Now everyone heads right & onto the old A2 towards Gillingham.
One of my points is that many towns or what's left of them are now car unfriendly & punish the motorists for genuine errors of judgement.

Yep, I am sure the Grim Reaper not far behind these days, surely money, when in sufficient quantities is power & opportunity, the more people are kept at a "cooking" level of existence, the more power is concentrated into fewer & richer hands, the oldest story on Earth I am afraid!

It's been all of 16 months now since  Chatham changed the roads and traffic flow, there were many protests to prevent the "flyover" to which you referred being demolished, fell on deaf ears, despite all the changes and road closures not much has changed but to send traffic to congest other areas.

Hi,
Rover-advanced engineering plastic dowels in situation to help retain the cylinder head, this is how we become a laughing stock, how can a professionally designed engine, get an air-lock and then F*** up!  The should castrate the !"£%^%s, who caused our industries to implode, through the limited futile wisdom of penny-pinching arseholes.

I do not think Council's understand democracy, nor Central Government come to think of it! What they have done in Chatham fits in nicely with Agenda 21!

I know congestion can be a problem, but it doesn't make sense to classify CO2 as a pollutant & then pour all kinds of toxins on the land!

I just hate all this interference in everything we do, especially re-transport.

Wet dog,
On a level of petty bureaucracy, the individual always seems to lose,  SORN is a pain in the arse, I have 3 vehicles on SORN & the Kawasaki is not Sorned because I have owned & it hasn't been taxed after a certain cut off date*, I think I am right here not having to SORN the Kwacker, because, no one has ever written to me officially, to ask me to SORN the vehicle.

However, from information on the net a SORN isn’t needed if:

    you sell the vehicle
    you scrap the vehicle or pass it to a scrap dealer
    your insurance company write the vehicle off
    you take the vehicle abroad permanently
    you apply for a refund and don’t keep the vehicle
    your vehicle was last taxed before 31 January 1998*.
I think all of the above are still current, but anything out of these designated areas of reason/remission, the thing that's shitty about SORN is the pain in the arse of remembering to do it annually, having said that I do  them online.

Like Council Tax, Traffic infringements, vehicle SORN offences seem in the main to be rigorously enfororced with compounding fines, there is little or no way out, its the new system of abolishing peoples rights, I will join the ABD this year, when I get a spare £12 or whatever the fee is.

Anyhow when you surrender the disc you will get a remission for every full month of Road Tax owed, fight them in another way, before the punish you with fines of..Prison?
Remember early Council Tax Rebels when in click, came out not having to pay, now you do "clink" and still have to pay!

Now field bikes have to be insured by law & presuably taxed too......
http://www.warwickshire.police.uk/crimeprevention/Comsafty/motorbikeleaflet
And as from January 2013 you cannot legally tow a vehicle without a fixed bar!¬  How many people know this new statute!

Cars and bikes  with engines are noisy a nuisance & infringe on many Environmental & Biodiversity Laws, in Kent someone who either rode a quad or a motorcycle on Dungeness beach was imprisoned because he took his vehicle on a World heritage site when it was an offence to do so!

Cheers

they will farm out dept collection to one of the indipendant debt collection agencys (scum) who have "NO" powers with out getting a county court judgment which you MUST insist on atending (these agencys are on a comision @2/5 percent) they will send you threatening letters and may turn up at your door , they have no right of entry and you must tell them to step to the far side of the boundry of your property , call the police if they do not as they are commiting the offence , they will not take you to court as they will lose and there ends the chase , as for council tax rates etc there was a pole tax introduced once and public unafraid to stand up (more like that please) had it thrown out , dont give up to soon , off road bikes (or the trials ones i have ) are not taxed ,registerd or insured , i think you may have to register if you want to insure as its easyer to trace if stolen , i have no problem with sorn as its on line as you say but the back and forth with tax discs which belong to me is unacceptable , i will let you know what happens either way , and dont get to scared by these self appointed public school boys who seam to be trying to run the country

the field bike part is interesting
Advice for parents and riders: the only places where off road vehicles can be lawfully ridden is on private land with the direct permission of the land owner or at an organised, supervised off road centre. (Bear in mind that you will probably need off road insurance!.................rubbish ) It is also strongly suggested that children wear full protective clothing at all times and a helmet which fits correctly and is securely fastened.

I wouldn't mind the tightening rules and regs if the useless police force were to enforce them, but now they tend to be career coppers, and the possible career-damaging enforcement of any rules on certain "travelling" or "society-enhancing" individuals means it tends to be only the law-abiding who suffer.
I wouldn't worry too much about off road insurance....it's a load of tosh spouted by arse-covering petty officials... ;)

Yes & No;
its an anti-social thing to do, neighbours will phone  a Community Support Unit to respond to a crisis of stated behaviour!
You are negatively affecting the biodiversity of said spatial area!
You are using up the Word's finite fossil fuels!
You are producing CO2 and other nasty pollutants & possibly CH4 when excited or making the wrong decision re direction & stability whilst riding!
Your are breaking God's knows how many Local Laws!
If you are in a Council House the garden/land belongs to them & therefore, if you have no tax, MOT & if uninsured its adds up to a plethora of criminal offences!
Is the machine too precious to have fun on, think about it!
Statutory noise level restrictions  may result in prosecution,  problems may result in further prosecution when you are become possibly abusive & resist arrest!
You local Council can watch you doing & preparing for this activity on satellite GIS systems, as can the"Old Bill", when you pump up the tyres with an old fashion pump and lay the towel you have been cleaning the 1940s Ariel with, (from above through Sky Net Surveillance sees, something like a rifle,  from this  bird's-eye angle of view ),  it is noticed as you crouch down adjusting the points, a turban like object appears to rest on your head, as the towel innocently rests above you on the handlebars, a mysterious symbol has also been spotted on your garden shed, therefore the Authorities have no choice but to alert an helicopter and an Armed Response Team!

This costs the Tax payers close on £50,000, in operational costs, but results in a successful prosecution of said individual for Anti-Social Behaviour, costing the Tax Payer a further £15,000 in Legal fees.

So do not be so selfish, think seriously of the consequences for others!

No mate, stay indoors read  your Classic mag's and have a nice cup of Tea!

Cheers

Most of the above could happen, to one unlucky Classic Motorcycle enthusiast, Councils & the "Old Bill" do use GIS Satellite  surveillance systems.

I'm pretty sure that all Councils have policies re-land use of a Tenant, it isn't like having privately owned land & even on the latter you are not always free to do as you please.

Cheers
