Shiny Frame

 Hlo all,  can anyone tell me if Triumph produced any frames finished in chrome in late sixtys..or was that "certainly never an option" ?     Bill.

No, all 60s Triumph frames were black - more or less without exception. Chrome requires the bare metal to be polished to near mirror finish before the plating takes place which so it doesn't make much sense for most mass producers. I think Rickman plated some of their frames in the 60s, and they could certainly be fitted with Triumph motors. HN

Yep, thanks for info, its just that my 69 Bonnie had a chrome frame when i first bought it years ago and since restored it leaving frame as is, see pic. Thanks,  Bill.

Yeah, that looks really good; well worth keeping original or not. I might look into having mine done. My '65 Bonnie is kind of opposite in that every bit of metalwork was (badly) painted in black, so it needs stripping and re-doing anyway. And as for my '59, that's an interesting reddish brown flaky finish.....HN

Remarkable! My Velocette has exactly the same!  Who'd have thought that two very different marques would think so similarly?

Strangely enough, I've even seen a Brough Superior with said brown flaky finish for sale a couple of years ago. They were still asking a bloody fortune for it too........
